Work Experience Programme

Work Exp

Working in an English speaking environment is an excellent way to improve communication skills and develop fluency in the English language while, at the same time, enjoying the friendliness and hospitality of the Irish people.

SLS offer unpaid work experience placements for international students year round. This programme offers students an ideal opportunity to experience Irish life as well as improving their grasp of the English language. Placements are usually no less than 3 weeks.

When applying for a work placement participants should be aware that hours, days of work and dress code are at the discretion of the placement company.

In order to gain the most out of the work placement SLS advocate the participants commit themselves to the agreed period with the company and be prepared to work the hours required (working hours and other conditions of employment are agreed at the time of interview). All participants are expected to take their employment seriously and endeavour to be conscientious in every aspect of their job.

The CV & Cover Letter are the most important aspects of the application process. These documents offer an introduction to an employer about who you are and what you have to offer.

We recommend that all student complete their CV & Cover Letters using the Europass Templates.

After you have completed your CV and Cover Letter you can complete SLS’s application form. On this application form you will be asked to give three area’s where you would like to work whilst in Dublin. If you need more information on the areas of work that SLS can offer please let us know!

Once SLS have received your CV, Cover Letter & Application From, we will review these and arrange a phone/video call interview with you. During this interview we will discuss your CV & Cover Letter and give you more information on the programme as well as answer any questions you might have.
